Science

Integrated Science is a laboratory science aligned with Delaware State Standards and requires mastery of scientific inquiry, physical laws of motion, electric force, astronomy, and ecology. Integrated science is an eleventh grade course and is sequenced after successful completion of Physical Science and Biology. Successful completion of Integrated Science can be used to complete the State graduation requirement for science and prepares students for further study in the sciences.
Chemistry is a laboratory science that requires mastery of knowledge and skills related to characteristics of inorganic forms of matter and the changes that matter undergoes, as well as mastery of high-level inquiry/problem-solving skills. Only students interested in pursuing post-secondary education in the areas of science, engineering, or health-related fields should enroll in this course. Successful completion of Chemistry can be used to complete the State graduation requirement for science and prepares students for further study in the sciences. Prerequisite: Completion of Advanced Math II and Biology with grades of "B" or better.
Physics is a laboratory science that requires mastery of knowledge and skills related to the relationships between matter and energy, as well as mastery of high-level inquiry/problem-solving skills. Only students interested in pursuing post-secondary education in the areas of science, engineering, computer technology, electronics, or health-related fields should enroll in this course. Successful completion of Physics can be used to complete the State graduation requirement for science and prepares students for further study in the sciences. Prerequisite: Completion of Advanced Math II and Biology with grades of "B" or better.
Environmental Science is a laboratory science that has a wide range of applied ecological sciences, including topics such as recycling/composting, human impact on the environment, pond and soil ecology, agriculture, etc. Environmental Science is intended for seniors who have completed the state science graduation requirements and are interested in a fourth credit in science. Prerequisite: Successful completion of Physical Science and Biology.
